Event Details

The Inaugural Great Southern Beer & Cider Festival will be held on Friday 30th September (Public Holiday) between 11am and 5pm at the scenic Yarra Glen Racecourse in the heart of the Yarra Valley.

Showcasing over 80 craft beers and ciders, the Festival is a great day out for enthusiasts eager to try a variety of new flavours and some old favourites.  There’ll be gourmet street food and live music throughout the day.

Children’s activities and entertainment will be available making it a great day out for families too.

The Racecourse has many great places to spread your picnic rug – and you’re welcome to bring along fold-up chairs! There’s also an extensive outdoor undercover area, along with a large air conditioned indoor area, ensuring comfort in any weather.

Please note Event terms and conditions don’t allow alcohol, food or drink to be brought into the venue – a wide selection of food will be available on the day, along with beer, cider, soft drinks and water.

The $35 Beer & Cider Combo ticket includes entry and 10 tasting tokens (value of $40). 

Group Booking Discount – a special 10% discount is available for group bookings of 8 or more.

VIP Group Package – This exclusive package includes access to a mini marquee for 10 guests, entry, 10 tasting tokens (per person), table and chairs. A limited number of packages available for $449. – SOLD OUT!

Please note these offers are only available for purchase online, in advance of the Festival. A booking fee will be added to all tickets purchased online.

The 10% group discount is applied to the ticket price and excludes the booking fee.

Please note the Festival has a capped number of tickets available for sale. To avoid disappointment we recommend purchasing tickets online, in advance as they may be sold out prior to the event. Any remaining tickets not sold in advance will go on sale at the entrance gates from 11am on the Friday.

To taste the beer or cider, you will need a Token Booklet. These can be purchased as a part of the Beer & Cider Combo Pack online or at the event for $20.

Each booklet contains 10 tokens that can be exchanged for:

1 token = 85ml beer or cider
3 tokens = 285ml beer or cider

Last drinks will be served at 4.30pm.

All exhibitors of craft beer and cider will be providing free drinking water on request.

How to Get to the Yarra Valley

The Great Southern Beer & Cider Festival is located at the Yarra Glen Racecourse in the heart of the beautiful Yarra Valley.

By Car

The travel time from the Melbourne CBD is approx. 1 hour and can be accessed by a variety of major roads including the Eastern Freeway, Maroondah Highway and Eastlink.

Free On Site Car Parking is available at the Yarra Glen Racecourse.

By Public Transport

Travel on the Lilydale/Belgrave line to Lilydale station, then take the 685 Lilydale to Healesville bus service to Yarra Glen, hopping off at Armstrong Grove near the Racecourse.

A courtesy bus will also be operating to and from Lilydale station and the Yarra Glen Racecourse during the event.  The first 57 seater bus will leave Lilydale station at 10.20am for the racecourse, then at 35 minute intervals. For the return journey, the first bus will leave the Racecourse at 2.50pm, then at 40 minute intervals. The last bus will depart for Lilydale station at approx 5.45pm.
